  • My Portfolio

Since I was a child, I was fascinated by videogames. I discovered new worlds, solved puzzles or fought as an barbarian against the powers of evil. It was fun, it was challenging and it fired my imagination.

I'm an 27 years old diploma gradate in multimedia and communication. During my study I worked as an intern at Deck 13 a Video game Developing Company, located in Frankfurt/Main. This encouraged my desire to not just play but create this unique and fantastic game worlds, myself. Concerning my diploma thesis I wanted to find an issue which also deals with that. So in this blog you find some information about the development of my thesis:

"Developing A Concept For A Videogame with Focus on Story and Graphics"

Developing Process Mortimer

Another person Moira gets to know is Mortimer. Mortimer is A Death. Which means that he is not the only one. His speciality is to catch the souls of wild animals and pets.Actually he doesn't like his job and often dreams about something better. Despite his fierce appearing he is a quite sensitive guy. Some early sketches:

I scanned them and applied colours. I decided to stick with a pale skin, because a bluish or greenish tone gives him an alien look, which I definitely didn't want to achieve. I also played around with different hairstyles
.

His body should be very tall and skinny. When drawing his outfit I played around with the length of his neck. I liked the Idea of a long neck like in outfit one, because it gives him some kind of awkwardness. Imagining him talking to smaller people he always has to bend down, which might even look funny.

For his job, he needs a special tool. Some kind of staff which gives him the power to separate the soul from the body.

Developing Process Mandigo

Moiras best friend, the tomcat Mandigo experienced a quite similar transformation like Moira.
The first concepts showed him as a young, happy and wild tomcat, but actually he is much older.
He has seen a lot of things and has his own way of thinking. Somethimes he is a bit of a dramaqueen and tends to think first on his own needs. But nevertheless he has a special connection to Moira and so she is also his best friend.

Developing Process Moira

During my diploma thesis, Moiras character changed due to the story I wrote and how she sees the world and people around her. So it seems more appropriate to me to make her a little bit older, than she looked like in the first concept.

So she got rid of some baby fat in her face.
After rendering in the model in Zbrush, I painted over some details like Eyebrows, Hair and Eyelashes.
The next step was her body and clothes. The body should be a bit taller but concerning the clothes I oriented me on my first clothing concepts.
